Hi, I’m Leah.

In April of 2009 my husband and I welcomed our first incredible baby into the world. My labor was long and difficult, with many moments of fear and uncertainty. Our birth doula was a steadfast presence of calm and patient reassurance. In those early days of motherhood, I knew that her help had been indispensable, and that this comfort and care would benefit all mothers.

In 2013 (while pregnant with our third child) I became a birth doula myself, following my passion to bring encouragement and support to other moms. Through many years in a community moms group, I grew convinced that postpartum support for the “fourth trimester” is essential as well. Over the past decade, I have volunteered with the Homeless Prenatal Program and SF General Hospital’s doula program, completed my postpartum doula training, and taken classes in pursuit of my nursing degree.

San Francisco has been my home since 2005 and I love raising my family here! In my free time, I love to read, bake bread, ride my bike, and hike with my family and our new puppy.

  • Leah is attentive, gentle and wise. From our initial meetings to her presence in the room during the height of intense labor at home, she supported me in just the way I needed her to. When my husband and I had questions or concerns, she was there to help us understand how the stages of labor were unfolding just as they should. I’m deeply thankful she was with us on such a significant day!

  • Leah’s calm presence, knowledge, touch, and words encouraged me so much during one of the most amazing moments of my life - becoming a mother! I was able to persevere during a difficult labor and feel more confident in myself because she was there supporting me.

  • I am so grateful Leah was with us during the birth of our baby. Her calm and confident presence helped me to be more present to what my wife needed, and conscious of the beauty of the experience.

  • I loved having Leah enter my postpartum world. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge. It was comforting to have Leah over to my house because of her gentle and present spirit. But it was also so helpful to have an extra set of hands willing to help me with whatever I needed--picking up, preparing food while I nursed, diaper changes, and letting me take a nap!
